📖 Course description

"Fundamentals of Adaptive Physical Education (APE)" is a deep dive into the neurophysiology of movement and the methodology of working with children with neurodivergence. During the training, you will progress from understanding a child's sensory profile ("seekers" and "avoiders") to creating complex neurodynamic obstacle courses. You will learn why traditional sports can be stressful at the start and how APE becomes a "driving school" for the body, where each exercise is a building block for the child's future autonomy.

  • Neurophysiology of movement: Understanding the law of proximal stability and the connection between gross motor skills and speech development.

  • Behaviour management: Using visual schedules, the "First — Then" contract, and the SOS protocol to manage crises and meltdowns.

  • Biomechanical foundation: Developing correct posture, strengthening the core muscles, and working with hypo- and hypertonicity.

  • Motor planning (praxis): How to teach a child's brain to plan and execute sequential movements to overcome motor clumsiness.

  • Balance and cerebellar stimulation: Automating balance on unstable surfaces to free up brain resources for intellectual tasks.

  • Teaching methodology: Mastering the hand-over-hand method, backward chaining, and shaping to successfully teach new skills without stress.

🎯 Who this course is for

  • APE specialists, rehabilitation therapists, and occupational therapists

Who are looking for a structured scientific basis and ready-to-use protocols for work in the gym.

  • Teachers, teaching assistants & Speech Therapists

Who want to use movement as a tool to "engage" attention and accelerate academic progress.

  • Parents

Who strive to become "partners" in their child's development, understand their sensory needs, and create a developmental environment at home.

🧩 Problems we help solve

  • "The child doesn't want to do anything": We teach how to use the Premack Principle and the correct motivational stimuli to overcome resistance.

  • "The body interferes with learning": We solve the problem of hyperactivity and sensory seeking through deep proprioceptive pressure and weighted equipment.

  • "Getting stuck" on actions: We train the brain's switching skill by changing equipment and obstacle courses, preparing the foundation for fluent speech and reading.

🚀 Results after completion

Upon completing this course, you will be equipped with a full set of tools for assessing physical condition and creating an effective development programme.

  • Professional diagnostics: You will learn how to test the physical domain (balance, coordination, crossing the midline) using standardised tests (e.g., "Stork Stance").

  • Individual plan development: You will be able to create sessions where every minute works toward developing autonomy and life opportunities.

  • Sensory environment management: You will master the skills of adapting equipment and the gym to the specific needs of a "seeker" or "avoider".

  • Generalising skills to life: You will learn how to give parents actionable homework (e.g., unpacking bags or crossing the midline while cleaning), turning everyday routines into a developmental zone.
