Course description

Master the art of diagnosis with this structured video course consisting of 8 sections and 36 lectures. You will learn to evaluate a child's development across six vital spheres using a systematic methodology that combines theoretical foundations with practical demonstrations. The course features real-life videos of children to illustrate assessment techniques, helping you distinguish between skill deficits and behavioral issues.

  • Speech and Language: Testing requests (mands), naming (tacts), question-answering (intraverbals), and conversational abilities.

  • Cognitive & Academic Skills: Evaluating reading, writing, mathematics, logical thinking, and creativity.

  • Physical Development: Diagnosing gross motor skills, balance, coordination, and agility using specific exercises like the "heron pose" or walking on tiptoes.

  • Sensory Sphere: Identifying hypersensitivity, hyposensitivity, and sensory seeking behaviors across visual, auditory, and tactile systems.

  • Daily Living Skills: Assessing functional independence in dressing, eating, toileting, and personal hygiene.

  • Social Sphere: Evaluating social interaction, motivation, and cooperation skills. IEP Development: Learning how to interpret test results to prioritize goals and create an Individualized Education Programme (IEP).

Who this course is for

  • ABA Therapists

To facilitate the creation of Individual Development Programmes customized to each child's needs.

  • Special Education Teachers & Speech Therapists

To identify areas requiring support and inform the development of instructional strategies.

  • Psychologists

To gain a holistic view of a child's developmental profile.

  • Parents

To better understand their child's needs and apply professional recommendations at home.

Problems we help you solve

  • Unclear Starting Point: You need a systematic way to determine exactly where to begin working with a child by measuring the gap between their chronological age and skill level.

  • Behavior vs. Skill: You struggle to distinguish whether a child cannot do something (lack of skill) or simply won't do it (behavioral refusal).

  • Uneven Development: You need to identify specific strengths (e.g., visual perception) to compensate for deficits in other areas (e.g., auditory comprehension).

Results after completion

After completing this course, you will be equipped to conduct a full skills assessment and build a roadmap for a child's development.

  • Conduct Comprehensive Assessments: You will be able to evaluate a child across all 6 areas: social, cognitive, speech, physical, sensory, and daily living.

  • Interpret Data: You will learn to analyze results to create a "learning profile" rather than just a sum of scores.

  • Create IEPs: You will be able to formulate an Individual Development Programme (IDP) that prioritizes socially significant skills like functional communication.

  • Apply Practical Strategies: You will master the use of prompts, reinforcement schedules, and errorless learning techniques to teach new skills.

  • Assess Sensory Needs: You will be able to recognize sensory patterns (seeking vs. avoiding) and adjust the learning environment accordingly.
